What a night! What a Party!
Elounda Beach Party is the best summer party on Crete! Dancing till the morning and generally people having fun!
I used to organize it a few years ago but since I had my son I couldn’t find any time for it. Big congrats to Andreas doing all the organizing alone.
So I got invited to take some pictures and maybe a couple of videos. I have some experience with party photography and used to shoot at local clubs when they had a big event but this was something different. It had to be a good photoshoot! Elounda beach party is a big party with a ton of reputation and everything had to be perfect. My gear as usual (still waiting for my new camera) was my Nikon D3200, 3 different lenses the stock 18mm-55mm by Nikon, the telephoto 55mm-200mm also by Nikon, my all time favorite 35mm prime lens also manufactured by Nikon and of course my Nissin flash. I have to say that most of the photos have been taken by the 35mm at F1.8 or F2.8. The reason is the beautiful bokeh of that lens and the open aperture letting more light enter the sensor, something vital for party photoshoots.
Check some of the photos I took at the Elounda beach party!
It was a fun night! Everyone enjoyed it so did I. I was extremely tired by the end but when I got home the first thing I did was to load all the pictures on Lightroom and play around a bit. Amazing! Nice, sharp pictures if you consider my gear of course. My Nissin flash did most of the work to be honest. That flash is a beast! The only mods I did on Lightroom was to boost the shadows and the whites. I also added my favorite movie effect by increasing the black point individually in each picture. All set!
More Elounda beach party photos!
My settings for the night:
1/30-1/40 exposure time
I had all manual settings all night playing with the exposure from shot to shot.
